{"id":521,"date":"2018-05-15T16:13:45","date_gmt":"2018-05-15T14:13:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/epistemicviolence.aau.at\/?page_id=521"},"modified":"2020-06-17T03:50:31","modified_gmt":"2020-06-17T01:50:31","slug":"project","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/epistemicviolence.aau.at\/index.php\/en\/project\/","title":{"rendered":"Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The research project \u201cTheorizing Epistemic Violence\u201d (V 368-G15) was funded within the framework of the Elise Richter Excellence Programme run by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) in the period from April 2015 to July 2020.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">My research, situated at the intersection of political theory and peace research, combines two desiderata: The weak epistemological reflection on broad definitions of violence \u2013 such as Galtung\u2019s structural and cultural violence, Bourdieu\u2019s  symbolic and Bulter\u2019s normative violence \u2013 within \u2018Western\u2019 debates on violence, on the one hand, and the occasional nature of consideration given to existing theories of violence within post- and decolonial research, on the other. Setting off from here, my work explores the preconditions, functions, and consequences of (scholarly) knowledge for globally asymmetric relations of power, dominance, and, ultimately, violence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In December 2019, I earned my habilitation degree (Venida Docendi) for Political Science at the Faculty of Social Sciences with the University of Vienna.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In April 2020, my book <a href=\u201dhttps:\/\/www.transcript-verlag.de\/978-3-8376-5131-7\/epistemische-gewalt\/\u201c target=\u201c_blank\u201c>Epistemic Violence.
